I see guys everywhere I go that have a ton of potential, they just need to be challenged and pushed in the right direction.
That's why, back in April, I challenged men to join me in losing a collective 100 pounds by Memorial Day.
42 days to change the trajectory of their health, their confidence, their belief in themselves, and the enjoyment they get from day to day life -- living it in less pain, in more confidence, with more energy.
The group of guys stepped up to the plate and really did some amazing work.
So many guys said the structure and discipline created during the challenge helped them tackle other big things in their life.... anxiety... depression... going through a break up.... sleep problems.... alcohol problems.... one guy said it was "life altering"....
Collectively, the guys lost 97.4 pounds. (That last 2.6 pounds not achieved is not their fault, I put that on me for not coaching them better)
What were the keys to success? Commitment, Community, Coaching.
Commitment -- they put their money where their heart wanted to be. Hundreds of dollars of commitment. Probably the most money they've ever spent on anything fitness. And, let me tell you, that flips a switch in your mind and makes you just a little more committed to sticking to a program when the times get tough.
Community -- suffering together breeds a certain type of bond. I had these guys all doing the same grueling workouts at Rise. Whether they did it together or separately, we got to commiserate over the facebook group or email together. The workouts were one thing, but the community created accountability for better eating habits too. When you see someone chime in on the facebook group that they didn't have dessert for the first time in a long time, makes you dig a little deeper.
Coaching -- Too often people go it alone in their fitness journey, opting for a cheap 20 or 50 dollar membership where they have no idea what they're doing and end up wasting time and money. The Men's Group worked out 3 days a week at Rise and had at-home workouts for the other 3 days. They were given custom nutrition plans. They had daily contact from me and could ask me questions any time. You don't go it alone in other big areas of your life, so why go it alone with the most crucial part, your health?
Congrats to all of the guys who participated. They all did great. Congrats to Jeff for losing the most weight -- 18.8 pounds in just 6 weeks. That's frickin awesome.
And he's not stopping. He's keeping the momentum going with Tribe at Rise -- 45 minute fat torching dumbbell and body weight training sessions to hammer the major muscles and build your heart and lungs.
Congrats to all my guys and I look forward to your continued success and health!
