What's a good protein bar/powder??

Something I hear a lot about are snacks.

Generally, since most of us are striving to hit 1 gram per pound of body weight, I think any protein-centered snack is a good snack.

But, in today’s age, that’s hard to do. So let’s talk about protein bars and protein powders.

Not all bars and powders are made alike.

As a rule of thumb, any product that ALSO pushes a “diet type” is likely not that great of a product. Keto protein bars, atkins powders, weight watchers, etc.. these likely worry more about fitting the diet type than they do about nutrients.

And since we aren’t into fad diets, we don’t need to worry about these.

So what should you go for then in a bar or powder?

Look at the protein to carb ratio. You want it to be AT LEAST one to one, if not greater.

It is harder for a bar to hit this number because they actually have to have the bar be in bar shape. Check the label, if it has more carbs than protein, it’s a carb-centered dessert.

It's easy to find a powder that fits this criteria. But, you've still got to look out for a bunch of additives in protein powder.

Below are some pictures of various labels to help you understand the concept and find what is best for you.
